The Pinnacle Elementary Charter School Happenings!

From the desk of Rebecca Sieve, Elementary Principal

With the school year underway, there are several programs and events that should be highlighted at the Elementary School that are enriching our offerings and our after school programs.

Thank you to all the families who participated in Back to School Night.  Our goal is to inform parents of our programs and supports that we offer to our students and families.  Many parents attended informational sessions on tutoring and an overview of the Elementary School’s programs and state performance levels.  The PTO also presented on its scheduled activities for the upcoming school year and recruited new members.  Parents also had the opportunity to speak with representatives from Transportation, Cubs’ Den, the Registrar’s Office, and Food Service.  Bi-lingual Spanish translators were also available throughout the building.  Parents expressed their pleasure with our school and their children’s teachers; it was an overall positive experience for our school community.  Many families expressed gratitude for attending The Pinnacle.

The students in grades 4 & 5 have been given the opportunity this fall to join the popular after school STEM club advised by Mrs. Downey and Mrs. Lamb.  Students participate in science labs and strengthen their analytical skills by predicting outcomes of experiments based on scientific methods.  The club meets weekly after school and will be exploring some fascinating science, technology, engineering and mathematical experiments.

In addition, the 4th grade class is in partnership with Schools and Outdoor Learning Environments (SOLE), through the Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Department of Natural Resources.  SOLE funds three field trip to a Colorado State Park, to the Colorado History Center and to a SOLE partner location.  The 4th grade students visited the Botanical Gardens in September as part of this program and will participate in a Family Nature Night this spring.

Federal Title Funds have also funded three tutoring programs for The Pinnacle Elementary.  Based upon on the area of need, children have been invited to join a before or after tutoring program in reading or math.  Imagine Learning (reading), SRA (reading) and Moby Max (math) are computer based programs and will be available to identified students who need additional support.

Thank you for a successful start of the year.  We look forward to seeing you again at Parent/Teacher Conferences on October 6 & 7.  Your child’s teacher will schedule a conference time with you to discuss your child’s current level of performance and to set achievement goals with students and parents.  We value the teamwork and partnerships that we have fostered with you.  Working together only makes us stronger and allows us to achieve our Mission:

To educate students to attain superior levels of academic performance by:

Creating a safe, supportive K-12 school community

Preparing students for college and career

Striving for excellence in everything we do.

  • Box Tops & Labels for Education

Box Tops & Labels for Education is a program that provides extra funding for our Elementary School.  Students and families can collect box top labels and submit them to their individual classroom teachers.  These are tallied each month!  The school then uses the funds from this program to purchase materials for school-wide use, including cooperative games, class book sets, and literacy center components.

Please consider collecting and donating your box tops and labels for your child's classroom teacher.  Thank you for your effort to support our school!
